Matthew Harris is a native of the
Memphis, Tennessee
area where he attended
Nicholas Blackwell High School
in
Bartlett, Tennessee
. Mr. Harris earned his Bachelor's Degree, cum laude, from the
University of Memphis
in 2001 with a major in Philosophy and a minor in Anthropology. Mr. Harris then attended The University of Alabama School of Law in
Tuscaloosa, Alabama
where he earned his degree in 2006.
During law school Mr. Harris was recognized with CALI Awards for Best Papers in Family Law, Special Problems in Constitutional Law: The Constitution and the Law of Slavery, and in Special Problems in International Law: International Criminal Procedure. Mr. Harris was the recipient of the
American Academy
of Matrimonial Lawyers Honors Award and the Alabama State Bar Association Family Law Section Award for 2006. Mr. Harris also completed an internship with the Tuscaloosa County Public Defender's Office and was a volunteer with West Alabama AIDS Outreach.
Mr. Harris is happily married and in his free time enjoys good food, good music and the company of his two dogs.
